- Producing UK armed forces veteran statistics for England and Wales, research update: 2023: This research uses evolving methods to provide new data for 2023 on the population of England and Wales who have previously served in the UK armed forces.
- Persistent ‘dental deserts’ risk deprived and rural communities being left behind: New analysis from the Local Government Association (LGA) reveals the ongoing crisis of ‘dental deserts’ – areas where dental practices offering NHS services are scarce.
- AI stethoscope could detect major heart conditions in seconds: The device replaces the traditional chest piece with a device around the size of a playing card. It uses a microphone to analyse subtle differences in heartbeat and blood flow that the human ear cannot detect.

This month the JSNA workplan is focused on:
- Finalising the Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) for Suffolk Health and Wellbeing Board on 18th September
- Finalising the healthy weight needs assessment for the end of September
- Producing a healthy pregnancy profile
- Producing a health literacy profile
- Updating the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) data produced as part of last years Needs Assessment
- Organising the Annual Public Health Report 2025
- Scoping new profiles on alcohol, substance misuse, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) and respiratory health

The Suffolk Observatory contains all Suffolk’s vital statistics. It is the one-stop-shop for data, statistics and reports all about Suffolk provided by a variety of organisations.
Through data, reports and analysis, the Suffolk Observatory provides a comprehensive picture of the county and is a great source for useful facts and figures that will help you write reports and presentations, inform strategic and business planning, prepare funding applications or support academic research.
