Ageing Well Learning Hub

The Ageing Well Learning Hub brings together practical resources and insights to support health, social care, and wider sector colleagues to promote healthy ageing.

This hub is for anyone working with adults and older people across health, social care, community and voluntary sector settings, as well as those involved in designing services, places or infrastructure used by people in later life.

The aim of this page is to make it easy to find practical, relevant learning that supports ageing well in everyday practice, whatever your role.

As part of our shared, cross‑system prevention agenda, supporting people to stay active in ways that are meaningful and achievable for them is increasingly recognised as a core element of person‑centred care.

Encouraging everyday movement helps people to maintain independence by supporting the strength, confidence and capability needed for essential daily activities. It also plays an important role in promoting overall wellbeing and reducing longer‑term health risks as people age.

Understanding frailty is an important part of supporting people to live well in later life, whatever your role or setting.

Frailty is not an inevitable consequence of ageing. With the right knowledge and early action, it is possible to prevent or delay progression, reduce avoidable crises, and support people to stay independent and connected. A shared approach across health, social care, community services and the wider environments people live, move and age within helps ensure that early signs are recognised, conversations are timely, and support is joined‑up and person‑centred.

Understanding dementia is an important part of supporting people to live well in later life, whatever your role or setting.

Dementia is not an inevitable part of ageing, and there is growing evidence that action across the life course can reduce risk and support brain health. When dementia is recognised early, people can be better supported to plan ahead, maintain independence and remain connected to the people, places and activities that matter to them. A shared approach across health, social care, community services and the wider environments people live, move and age within helps create supportive, inclusive communities where people affected by dementia are understood, respected and able to live well.
