Suffolk Sexual Health Network

The Suffolk Sexual Health Network was established to enable commissioners, practitioners and service providers to come together to share good practice and learn more about sexual health in Suffolk.

The network was launched in June 2016 at the first network meeting which was attended by practitioners from a variety of services, providers of sexual health services and commissioners.

Future plans for the Suffolk Sexual Health Network are currently in development. If you have an idea about how the network could work going forward, please contact fran.catchpole@suffolk.gov.uk

In the meantime, you can ensure you are up to date with all the latest sexual health news and guidance by joining the Suffolk Sexual Health Network email distribution list. Please contact Fran to be added to this.

Purpose of the Group

To improve the health and wellbeing of the population of Suffolk through a co-ordinated and collaborative approach to delivery of services and interventions that impact on the sexual health of individuals, communities and populations.

Key Objectives

Members 'voted' to prioritise the top three of eight given objectives during the first network meeting in June 2016. From the eight objectives given it was chosen to prioritise:

  • Workforce development to improve knowledge and practice in sexual health
  • Developing co-operation and collaboration between key stakeholders
  • Teenage pregnancy

These three objectives will now be taken forward as key actions for the network through project groups which will work together between network meetings. Anyone who would like to be involved in the project groups can contact fran.catchpole@suffolk.gov.uk.

Sexual Health Training for Professionals

The Terrence Higgins Trust provides sexual health training for professionals and there was much interest about this during the network meeting. Those who had attended said how useful they had found the sessions and a lot of people expressed interest in taking part in the free training.
